Welcome to the Kentucky AAU - Sports for all, Forever !

Hello Sports Fans, sorry for the unexpectd vacation, but you know how computers are. Hopefully we will be back in business and able to bring you some information about the KY AAU. We had a great meeting last Monday with good attendance and a lot of great dialogue. A lot of your Representatives are prepareing to attend the Annual AAU Convention, which happens this year to be in Cancun. This is the last year for single year Conventions, after this meeting we will meet only every two years.
Yours truly will be campaigning for the office of 2nd Vice President. There are some very good candidates running but I decided to throw my hat in the ring and see where it lands. The Volleyball Committee nominated me and I decided to run with it since I had their endorsement. It should be an interesting election.
At our last meeting Governor Stout issued some challenges and offered some suggestions to Basketball and Taekwondo as to how they could attract more participants. He suggessted that we target middle schools and offer them some programs that would be attractive.

AAU Junior Olympic Games Report
Detroit, Michigan
This year's games were another great success. The Opening Ceremonies were well planned and offered a lot of audience involvment. I was impressed by the number of teams that were in attendance. The were very entertaining and held everyone's attention. The numbers balanced out to where in some sports the numbers were down but other sports showed enough growth to compensate. All in all we showed an increase over the 2007 games. I would certainly encourage everyone to take their athletes to the games and let them compete with athletes frm all over the country. It is a thrilling ocasion and one that they will not soon forget.
